Dear parishioners and friends,

Happy Easter!  A warm welcome to all who have come to celebrate the great feast of Easter here at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.   We extend a special welcome to those who relate to the parish and return to celebrate Easter with us.  “Welcome home!”   The Easter liturgy invites us to celebrate Christ’s victory over sin and death and the new life that He offers us. The music and flowers of Easter speak to us of joy and life.   God shares new life with us through Baptism.  And so, in the Easter season we renew our Baptismal promises as a response to God’s love, mercy and life.  Renewing the Baptismal promises means renouncing sin and evil and affirming faith in the Holy Trinity:  the Father, the Son and the Spirit.

Lent is observed for forty days.  The Easter season is fifty days, culminating with Pentecost.  It is a great opportunity to “start anew” with our relationship with God and our participation in the Church.  The readings for the Easter season invite us to celebrate Christ’s resurrection and the experience of the risen Lord in our daily lives and the life the Church.

Sincerely, Father Joseph H. Callahan

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,

Joseph Callahan
