Dear parishioners and friends,
Artificial Intelligence “AI” has been in the news lately. Potential benefits are exalted by some, while others warn of potential serious dangers. Pope Leo XIV has contributed to the topic in his first encyclical: Magnifica Humanitas “Magnificent Humanity: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence”. An article about the document says: “Magnifica humanitas is not a screed against AI, nor is it a full-throated endorsement of the technological advancements of the AI… It is a consideration of the moment we face, how history got us here, how the social doctrine of the Church can guide us, and the responsibilities we each have in the current age of artificial intelligence. (Katie Prejean McGrady, C21 Resources, Fall 2026, Boston College, MA). In the encyclical, the Holy Father states:
“…(W)e can move forward with confidence to face the arduous tasks and demanding challenges that lie ahead. In the era of artificial intelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. True progress always stems from a heart open to others, an intelligence willing to listen and a will that seeks what unites rather than what separates. … (MH,15)…With the heart of a shepherd and a father, I ask everyone to abandon the construction of yet another Tower of Babel and to join forces in building up the common good, so that humanity will never lose its beauty, and the world once again will come to recognize the human heart as the place where God desires to dwell. (MH,16).”

SACRED PLACES GRANT
Our Lady of Lourdes Parish has been awarded a $175,000 grant from the National Fund for Historic Places. It is a matching grant. This means we have the challenge of raising $175,000 for this urgent project that will fund masonry repair and restoration of the church building. Consider donating to help with this important project!!

SAVE THE DATE: December 6, 2026, for this year’s Lourdes Alumni Christmas Party. It’s open to all Grade and High school participants at Our Lady of Lourdes schools and friends of Our Lady of Lourdes parish. Starts with the 10:00 maas at Lourdes followed by lunch at the Bohemian National Hall. If you have never received any information for a past event, contact the church office to be put on the mailing/email list.

SHARE YOUR FAITH! Invite your family members or friends who were not able to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation to register for the OCIA or Adult Sacramental Preparation. Classes will be held on Sundays beginning in October. Stop by the table by the St. Procop statue to complete a registration form after the Sunday Masses or in the parish office.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,Queridos feligreses y amigos,
El tema de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) ha salido mucho en las noticia ultimamente. Algunas personas pregonan los beneficios, mientras otras se enfocan en los peligros. El Papa León XIV trata este tema en su primera carta encíclica Magnifica Humanitas: Protegiendo la Persona Humana en el Tiempo de la Inteligencia Artificial. Un artículo acerca de la encíclica dice que el Papa no se declara muy a favor ni en contra de IA. Pero, él sí da el contexto de este momento en la historia; cómo llegamos a este momento, y cómo las enseñanzas de la doctrina social de la iglesia nos iluminan y las responsabilidades que cada uno tiene en cuanto a este fenómeno. En la carta encíclica, el Papa León nos dice:
“…podemos avanzar con ánimo confiado ante las arduas tareas y los exigentes desafíos que se perfilan en nuestro futuro. En la era de la inteligencia artificial, en la que la dignidad humana corre el riesgo de verse eclipsada por nuevas formas de deshumanización, tenemos el deber urgente de permanecer profundamente humanos, custodiando con amor esa magnífica humanidad que se nos ha dado y revelado en plenitud en Cristo, y que ninguna máquina podrá jamás sustituir en su esplendor. El verdadero progreso nace siempre de un corazón abierto al otro, de una inteligencia dispuesta a escuchar, de una voluntad que busca lo que une más que lo que separa. (MH, 15)
…(C)on ánimo de pastor y de padre, pido a todos que detengan la construcción de la enésima Babel y que unan fuerzas para edificar en el bien, para que la humanidad nunca pierda su propia belleza y el mundo pueda reconocer una vez más, en el corazón del ser humano, el lugar donde Dios desea habitar. ROSARIO CADA DOMINGO: Cada domingo a las 11:30 am se reza el Santo Rosario antes de la misa en Español. TODOS BIENVENIDOS
OLOL FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL: Sábado, 17 de octubre. Todavía necesitamos diferentes grupos de danza tradicionales para hacer presentaciones en el festival. Llama a la oficina para registrarte.
RIFA DE OLOL FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL: Los boletos para la Rifa del Festival Internacional están disponibles después de cada misa y en la oficina parroquial. Cada boleto cuesta $1 y los premios son en dinero en efectivo. No dejes de comprar tus boletos.
¡COMPARTAN SU FE! Inviten a sus parientes o amigos(as) quienes no han recibido los Sacramentos del Bautismo, Primera Comunión y/o Confirmación como niños para registrarse para el OICA o Preparación Sacramental de Adultos. Las clases van a ser los domingos comenzando en octubre. Visitan la mesa ubicada por la estatua de San Procopio para completar una hoja de inscripción después de las misas dominicales o en la oficina parroquial.
