Our Lady of Lourdes Parish has been awarded a $175,000 grant from the National Fund for Historic Places. It is a matching grant. This means we have the challenge of raising $175,000 for this urgent project that will fund masonry repair and restoration of the church building. Dear Parishioners and friends,
Next weekend we will welcome Father Sleeva Raju Kala, OSFS to make the mission appeal on behalf of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. This religious community of men was founded in France in 1876 to live and spread the optimistic spirituality of St. Francis de Sales. They staff missions in Africa, South America, and India, serving some of the poorest people in the world.
Father Kala will preach at the Masses next weekend and the second collection will be taken to benefit his congregation. There is not an envelope in your box for this collection, so please make your cheque out to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, and put “mission appeal” on the memo line. If you want to donate cash, please use an envelope, write your name on it and “mission appeal” and the date. Again, for the second collection next weekend. Queridos hermanos y hermanas:
El próximo domingo, tendremos la visita de Padre Sleeva Raju Kala, OSFS, miembro de los Oblatos de San Francisco de Sales—una comunidad religiosa de hombres fundada en Francia en 1876. Ellos sirven en la India, America del Sur, y Africa, atendiendo algunas de las parroquias más pobres con el trabajo pastoral, educación, y obras sociales.
La segunda lectura el próximo domingo será exclusivamente para la congregación del padre. De antemano agradezco su generosidad.
