Dear parishioners and friends,
November is dedicated to all the deceased. What a blessing it is to begin the month on a Sunday and the feast of All Saints. The communion of saints, as mentioned in the Creed celebrates the union of all faithful believers – the spiritual solidarity and union that connects all Christian believers—past, present, and future—as one single family or Mystical Body of Christ. All Saints Day is an opportunity to celebrate the great heroes of the history of the church. They accompany and animate us on our journey. I remember visiting an elderly widow in El Salvador. I told her that people were concerned since she lived alone. “I am not alone,” she said, “they are with me,” as she pointed to pictures and statues of saints adorning the walls of her house. She understood what the communion of saints is!
Tomorrow is All Souls Day. We will have a bilingual Mass at 7:00 PM. Our tradition is to mention the names of those who have died since November 2 last year. But we remember all our deceased. It is their day and we should honor them with our presence in their honor and our prayers. Please try to attend.

SACRED PLACES GRANT
Our Lady of Lourdes Parish has been awarded a $175,000 grant from the National Fund for Historic Places. It is a matching grant. This means we have the challenge of raising $175,000 for this urgent project that will fund masonry repair and restoration of the church building. Consider donating to help with this important project!!

GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR DECEASED PRIESTS: Join us as we remember those priests who left us in the past year who served our Diocese. Monday, November 16th at 3:00PM at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park (St John Paul II Mausoleum/Section 5).
ALTAR AND ROSARY MEETING: Rosary will be said EVERY SUNDAY in the month of October at 9:30 AM before 10:00AM Mass. Please Join Us! EVERYONE WELCOME!
FOOD PANTRY: Every Wednesday 3-4:30PM. We are in need of canned fruit, beef stew, Ramen, jello, hot chocolate packets, Mac and cheese, sardines. Thanks so much for your donations and generosity.
SHARE YOUR FAITH! Invite your family members or friends who were not able to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation to register for the OCIA or Adult Sacramental Preparation. Classes will be held on Sundays beginning in October. Stop by the table by the St. Procop statue to complete a registration form after the Sunday Masses or in the parish office.

Queridos feligreses y amigos,
El mes de Noviembre está dedicado a todos los fieles difuntos. Y qué bendición empezar el mes un domingo y con la Solemnidad de todos los santos. En el credo, decimos creo en la comunión de los santos y entonces celebramos la unión de todos los creyentes – los del pasado, el presente, y el futuro – como una sola familia en el cuerpo místico de Cristo. Celebramos los grandes héroes de la historia de la Iglesia hoy. Los santos nos acompañan, animan, y nos inspiran con sus vidas ejemplares. Me acuerdo cuando visité a una viuda en El Salvador. Le dije que la gente estaba preocupada porque vivía sola. “Padre”, me dijo “no estoy sola” … y con su mano indicaba los cuadros e imágenes de los santos en su humilde casa. “Ellos están conmigo”. ¡Ella entendió lo que significa la comunión de los santos!
Mañana es el día de todos los fieles difuntos. Tendremos la Santa Misa a las 7:00PM. Mencionaremos los nombres de los que fallecieron desde el 2 de noviembre del año pasado. Pero es el día de todos los que se nos han adelantado. Es su día y merecen nuestra presencia en su honor, y nuestras oraciones.¡Luchemos por asistir!
