Our Lady of Lourdes has been awarded a $175,000 grant from the National Fund for Historic Places as described in the news article below. The grant is a matching grant. This means we have the challenge of raising $175,000 for this urgent project to fund masonry repair and restoration of the church building. Consider donating to help with this important project!!

Dear Parishioners and friends,
Our founding pastor, Father Stefan Furdek died 18 January 1915. He came to the mission country of the USA as a seminarian, finished studies and was ordained here in Cleveland. Almost right after ordination, in 1883 our parish was established. The oral tradition says that he had a devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes – the apparition of the Blessed Mother to St. Bernadette in 1858, and thus the name of the parish. Father Furdek over saw the construction of our beautiful church, which began in 1891.
Father Furdek would be very pleased and proud that we continue to maintain our church community and building. We are so blessed to have received the match grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places to begin work on the preservation of the masonry on the building. And we have a great start toward matching the $175,000.00 grant. THANK YOU to all who have contributed. Please consider helping us with this important project! Looking ahead. The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is Wednesday, 11 February. Masses with anointing of the sick will be at 4:00 PM in English, and 7:00 PM in Spanish. And Ash Wednesday is the 18th February!

PSR CLASSES children’s classes have begun. The next class is on Saturday, Jan 24, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. You can still register your children for classes after the Sunday Masses or in the parish office on Saturday mornings.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
El sacerdote que fundó nuestra parroquia en 1883 falleció el 18 de enero de 1915. De la Republica Checa, Stefan Furdek vino a la Diócesis de Cleveland como seminarista, terminó sus estudios en el seminario, y fue ordenado aquí. Poco después de su ordenación, estableció la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes. Tuvo una a devoción a la Virgen de Lourdes. Bajó el liderazgo, la comunidad construyó el templo que tenemos hoy. Construcción empezó en 1891.
El Padre Furdek estaría muy contento de que luchamos por mantener el templo. Cierto que hace poco, nos dimos cuenta de que una fundación nos ha prometido $175,000.00 por el mantenimiento de los ladrillos – con tal de que nosotros mismo recaudemos la misma cantidad – es decir $175,000.00. Estaremos haciendo actividades para poder cumplir esa meta. Aceptamos donaciones para el mismo. De antemano, agradezco su colaboración.
Nuestra fiesta patronal es el miércoles 11 de febrero. Misas serán a las 4:00 PM en Ingles, y a las 7:00 PM en español. Y miércoles de ceniza es miércoles 18 de febrero. Misas es día serán a las 4:00 PM en Ingles, y a las 7:00 PM en español.

4. Participar en la platica pre-bautismal
5. Seleccionar padrinos que son activos en la iglesia y comulgan con frecuencia.
6. Hablar con el Padre Jose para fijar la fecha del bautismo
