Dear Parishioners and friends,
Lent begins this Wednesday 18 February. Masses with the distribution of ashes will be at 4:00 PM in English and 7:00 PM in Spanish. This Friday and all Fridays during Lent, we will pray the Stations of the Cross at 6:00 PM in English and 7:00 PM in Spanish. Please consider coming to pray the Stations of the Cross this year. Also, the “Little Black Books” with a daily reflection for each day of Lent are available at the parking lot entrance of the church and in the parish office. Rice Bowls are also available. These are great practical ways to bring Lent into our daily lives and the traditional practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
Ash Wednesday (18 February) and Good Friday (3 April) are days of abstinence from meat and days of fast, that is limited to one full meal. All Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence from meat. The law of abstinence applies to Catholics 14 years and older. The law of fasting applies to Catholics 18 – 59 years of age.
Try to make a good confession during Lent. Confessions here are Saturdays 3:00 PM- 3:30 PM. Our regional penance service with a number of priest confessors will be Monday, 2 March, 7:00 PM at St. John Nepomucene. The now traditional night of confessions at all parishes in the Diocese will be Wednesday, 4 March 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

PSR CLASSES children’s classes have begun. The next class is on Saturday, 14 Feb, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. You can still register your children for classes after the Sunday Masses or in the parish office on Saturday mornings.
CONFIRMATION CLASS SUNDAY, 1 March, from 2:15 – 4:15 p.m. in the basement classrooms in the parish house.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Esta semana empezamos LA CUARESMA. El próximo miércoles, el de ceniza, las misas con la imposición de ceniza serán a las 4:00 PM (ingles) y a las 7:00 PM (español). Este viernes y todos los viernes durante la cuaresma, estaremos rezando el VIA CRUCIS a las 7:00 PM en español. Los libritos negros con una reflexión diaria para cada día de la cuaresma y los “platos de arroz” están disponibles a la salida que da al parqueo. Nos ayudan con las practicas tradicionales de la cuaresma: oración, ayuno, y dar limosna.
Miércoles de ceniza y el viernes santo son días de ayuna y abstinencia de comer carne. Ayuno se define como un tiempo de comida. La regla de ayunar se aplica a las edades 18 – 59 años. La de no comer carne se aplica a los de 14 años para arriba.

3. Traer copia del permiso del parroco si son de otra parroquia
4. Participar en la platica pre-bautismal
5. Seleccionar padrinos que son activos en la iglesia y comulgan con frecuencia.
6. Hablar con el Padre Jose para fijar la fecha del bautismo
